Project 1/3 2014

Hoerbiger Campus

Project type:invited competition entry
Award:2nd prize
Location:Seestadt Aspern (AUT)
Competence:rooftop and landscape design
Cooperation:ATP Wien Planungs GmbH
Initiated by:Hoerbiger Holding AG

The competition entry includes a rooftop garden designed by Kieran Fraser Landscape Design. The special characteristic of this garden is its half-height position in the campus, creating an unusual spatial experience and making the view from above particularly important. Alternating rows of concrete blocks and lawn create a strong graphical effect and an open space for diverce forms of use. The main path leads around the buildings, through treetops and to viewpoints of both campus-internal and external sights. The warped glass-and-lawn-roof above the Hoerbiger Campus Showroom is an emblematical feature mediating between ground floor, roof garden, floors above and the surrounding area.
