Spatium arboreum

Type:public
Completion:2004
Location:Botanical Garden Vienna (AUT)
Area:110 m²
Scope:design and implementation
Supported by:Ossian Fraser, Philip Schilling
Client:Botanical Garden Vienna

The artwork located in the Botanical Garden of Vienna awakens notions of an once magnificent tree - felled in consequense of a disease. Offering an artistic perspective in a scientifically oriented garden, the "downside up" root of the 100 year old Norway Maple and an earthform surrounding the trees former position draw attention to the now opened space above.
